Some Words about These Paintings.
These paintings were done over the last decade and have not been exhibited before, there are one or two of a older vintage!
Others from this decade have already found homes and can’t be present on this website!
The themes in the paintings reflect the time I have spent in France and Scotland, and my interest in Visual Culture.
from Icon Painting to Pop Art. They are also a distillation and completion of many of the experiences I have lived through.
In the South of France oil paintings, I was looking back to the motifs and the legacy of Monet Cézanne Matisse Bonnard and Dufy. Looking Across the sea to American Art I reflect on the philosophical questions posed by the Art of Warhol and Koons.
In Scotland my Art is about Locality and Place.
The Icons are painted in the medium of egg tempera and draw on the rich Christian Tradition of Icon Painting.
